It’s Not Your Ordinary Fundraiser

The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life is a unique celebration of life in honor and in memory of those touched by cancer.

Join us for entertainment, music, food, prizes and fun.   Teams of 8 – 15 people will walk, run or jog around Barlow Park in Ripon. (Wisconsin)

Teams come together for one goal – to raise money through donations to help in the fight against cancer.  Relay For Life is for anyone and everyone – it is not athletically challenging or competitive.

What makes Relay For Life an event that will be remembered is the sense of pride, camaraderie, and personal satisfaction you’ll feel knowing that you’ve helped raise awareness that cancer can and will be beaten.

The funds raised go a long way toward helping the American Cancer Society continue its programs of research, education, advocacy and service to cancer patients and their families.

Everyone is invited to the Relay to enjoy food, games and entertainment. The Relay also provides cancer information and education.

A poem submitted by a Ripon Relay for Life participant:

The Big "C" Inside
(By Britnie Brock, age 14)

You lie there hiding silently in the shadows
Like a cat waiting to pounce on its prey
Slowly you stretch, building and growing inside
Waiting patiently for me to let my guard down
You wish and hope my strength will fade
That I'll give in to your every desire
But I am strong
I am determined
I will not give up!

Sometimes I wonder if you'll every surrender
Will your persistence ever fade?
I wish you'd just leave me alone
I am tired, weak, and emotionally drained
Would it just be easier to give in to you?

I realize now that I should fight
How foolish of me to simply give up
This is one battle you will not win
It's your turn to back down and run
I am the mouse and I've escaped this time
The cancer inside won't eat me alive
I am strong
I am determined
I will not let you win!
